Mother of the Year - 2008

Okay, I wasn't going to make this announcement for a few weeks, but I just can't hold it in. I realize that many, if not all, of you "other" mothers out there apply for this award every year, and sadly only one wins. Generally, this award is given at the end of the year but I was recently told that I went above and beyond! The following certificate was delivered via telegraph earlier today...

TO: Brenda K. Preister, mother of Charli Ann
January 20, 2008

We are pleased to announce the 2008 Mother of the Year Award is formally given to the above mentioned, first-time mother of one. This award is given based on one particular event that seems to be unbelievable. Not only does this award prove "motherly-ness" but also the sheer genius this mother must process. In order to inform all who view this certificate, we will offer brief recap now...
It was a typical Sunday morning in their home. As Brenda (the mother) went to brush Charli's teeth, loading the brush up with LOTS of toothpaste, she noticed that Charli made a funny face. This seemed odd because in the past Charli has truly enjoyed this time. After some time had passed "mother of the year" thought she better see why Charli was acting so odd...so she tasted it. In the midst of all the "goings-on" 'MOTHER OF THE YEAR" put Teeth/Gum/Mouth NUMBING gel on the tooth brush, rather than toothpaste. Although this was cheery flavored, Charli still seemed to notice the odd difference.
It is because of this single act that we feel confident honoring Brenda as the MOTHER OF THE YEAR AWARD receipt.
Please...if you see her, don't forget to mention her moment of glory.

Gee...I have never been so proud...

You are too FUNNY!!! Did she bite her tongue or cheek since it was a bit numb? What a good girl to just do as she should even though she knew it did not taste like the 'usual' toothpaste!! Have a good second week at your new career!!

Hehehe, things like that are supposed to happen. It falls under the title of mom. I hope the second week at the new job goes wonderfully!

I won that award back in 1992, when my now 15 year old was about 6 months old. After work, I was doing my normal mad dash to pick Cody up from daycare so I could get to my stepdaughter at Latchkey before 5:45 and the often incurred late fee.
Sighed a huge sigh relief when I got to daycare and they had Cody ready to go for me. I was teasing the day care staff that Cody either must had been a pain that day for them to have him ready or they must of had a hot date that night.
They began laughing at me and then asked me "Sheila, is that Cody's diaper bag?" Yep! "Cody's car seat?" Yep! "Cody?" Yep, wait I don't remember dressing him in pink!!
Apparently, one of the other moms had come to pick up her baby girl (who had the same carseat as mine) and had her ready to go but her preschool child had to go to the bathroom. Beyond that one of the day care workers was standing just a few feet in front of me holding my son!!

LOL! I haven't been on in a while because I can't check from work anymore. Glad to hear about Charli getting her port out and you being nominated for MOTY. You so richly deserve it.
