Charli's on a billboard!!

Charli is on a billboard in Omaha!!!!

The location is at 72nd & L, on the south side - facing east I believe! We will be there in a few weeks for the CureSearch walk and can't wait to see it!! I have no idea how long it will be up so PLEASE if you are in the area go check it out!! Our baby is on a billboard!!!!!!
PS. She is in the top right corner, sporting her pink john deere dress that our friend from Omaha (Kim!) gave us after Charli was diagnosed!!! This picture was taken after it was put up, so it is kind of hard to see! So below it is the computerized image of it!!

Childhood Cancer Awareness Day!!

Washington, D.C. - September 13, 2008 will now be recognized as 'National Childhood Cancer Awareness Day' as a result of a Senate resolution introduced by U.S. Senators Wayne Allard (R-Colo.) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY).

'Never before in history has the dream of eliminating childhood cancer been so attainable, yet seemed so elusive,' said Senator Allard. 'We live in a nation where the effectiveness of treatments and technology offer hope to children who dream of a bright future. Each case of childhood cancer is a very personal tragedy that can strike any family with children, at anytime, anywhere. In setting aside September 13th to recognize this battle on cancer, we continue of our efforts to draw attention to the victims of childhood cancer and the great work of the families and organizations who continue the fight.'

'We have made tremendous strides in the fight against childhood cancer, but far too many children still suffer and lose their lives to this illness. The more we know as a nation the better able we will be to prevent and treat the disease and help those who are battling and surviving pediatric cancers. National Childhood Cancer Awareness Day is an opportunity to reach out to all Americans with the facts about childhood cancer, and this day will be an important symbol of our commitment on all days to find a cure,' said Senator Clinton.

Childhood cancer is the number one disease killer and the second overall leading cause of death of children in the United States. More than 10,000 children under the age of 15 in the United States are diagnosed with cancer annually.

please pray

Please pray for NB families this week.

Earlier this week the world remembered sweet Penelope who left this world one year ago. Also this week, three children that I know of have lost their battle and earned their wings - which means there were others who I don't know of. What a painful reality to a disease which has no cure...do people really get the importance of a cure?

Tonight when you go to bed and hug your loved ones, please squeeze them extra-tight and know that they are on this earth with you...while others are left with empty beds in their home tonight. Cancer just makes me so angry, cancer in children not only breaks and hurts my heart...it makes me livid.

If you are unable to donate money or donate of your time...please donate of your prayer for these families who are in desperate need of the strength and "whatever" else they are suppose to muster up after loosing a child.

sorry for being so cynical tonight...

what is love....

Love is....

a great weekend!

We had such a great weekend at our house!! Saturday Chad went to work SUPER early (like before 2:30 am, early!) and was home early in the day to spend it all with Charli! We went out to the farm and celebrated Grandpa Borg's birthday! Charli enjoyed playing with the cats, kittens, and puppy! She liked to "moo" at the cows too!! She did NOT want to come inside for anything!! Charli was a big helper for Grandpa too! She helped him several times move the sprinklers! One time grandpa got a little bit of a surprise when he tried to move the sprinkler and it came back to "shower" both the little ones helping grandpa!! (Charli and Colton!!!) Silly Grandpa - but hey, one less bath for this week!!!!

Today Charli spent all day outside today! This morning Chad bought Charli her first bike!! He has been saving his "mowing" money for a few weeks to buy her something like this!! She really enjoyed being on it, and is already learning how to use it correctly! We went on two walks with her new bike, she also took Kasper (daddy took Wynston) on a walk!! Later in the day we went to graduation parties where she entertained all with her "checking" of the tires! She wanted to be outside the entire time, and eventually got her way!!

Charli is growing like crazy - seems like clothes that didn't fit her two weeks ago fit her now! There are a few outfits she didn't even get to wear because she grew out of them before I thought they fit!!!

Charli is using her words very well, and understanding and doing about 98% of what we ask/say!! She is loving her pets more everyday! Each morning she goes to show Coco her hair!!

THIS is why daddy doesn't do my hair!!

good-bye highchair...hello BIG girl chair!

double the feeding power!!

nice kitty!! nice puppy!!!

Charli's new bike!!!

bye-bye...again!

Well, we tried to fix Charli's eye again! Charli had surgery on her left eye again this morning, hopefully the second time is a charm!

We had to be at the surgery center shortly after 6am this morning, Charli was up and all smiles at 5:30 this morning...I can't wait until tomorrow rolls around and she wants to get up early again!!! yuck!!

Like always, the nurses goo'd all over Charli and how well behaved she is when we are in that type of setting! She truly isn't scared of nurses, doctors, strangers, hospitals, clinics, etc! She did great today as always. She did have a few problems from the air tube I think...but I wonder if that is going to be her normal reaction from now on, it seems like we have had the same problem the last 2-3 times.

She has been playing really well today, but is zonked out for a hard nap!! She has been down for nearly three hours, so I am glad we decided to keep her home all day to rest. She is super happy...but she would be too busy playing if she was at daycare! Chad also stayed home today, so I went into to work for a few hours so tomorrow would be a little easier on me!!

Not much else to report for now - that I can think of! Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day 2008!!

We had a great day today! Chad and Charli got me two very nice and cute cards!! We took Chad's mom (and little brother) out to eat lunch and they came back to play with Charli before nap!!! She enjoyed showing off!!!

During nap time, mom took a nap too!! When I woke up Grandma and Grandpa Preister were here and played with Charli for several hours while Chad and I waxed the Yukon!!

Grandma and Grandpa Borg came down for supper and played with Charli some more!! She got lots of love and lots of play time today!

Last night Chad and I went out with some friends and Charli got to play-play-play with some friends!!! She got to spend the night, and I think she was upset when she had to come home to an empty house! A MAJOR thank you to Linda and her family for taking care of our little spider-monkey!! I know she had a GREAT time with you, and we love how your family loves her so much!!!

mmm, tasty!

what, we don't ride bulldogs?!!

Grandpa's bike...it fits well :-)!!!!!!

One event down...

So...the game is here and gone and I am still standing!!!
Saturday we had a wedding in Lincoln - Chad's cousin got married so we stayed down there so Charli could enjoy dancing and swimming as part of her big weekend! She really enjoyed dancing around with everyone and by herself...she is such a doll - I can't stand it sometimes :)
Sunday morning we took off and came home to start the big day of the game!! Charli was great all day, she ran around and played...enjoying the big open spaces!
We were a little disappointed with the turnout for the game, not to in ANY WAY discount those who did come! We were so pleasantly surprised by the faces that we saw, it warmed our hearts! But, there were a few that were missing that were noticed - but that is life I guess!! Our goal was 250 people and $1,000 to raise for our team. We only had about 115 attend, BUT - we raised $800!! Those who came were beyond generous and left us speechless once again! Thanks to all of those who were able to come out and support the Huskers & the "Charli's Angels"!!
Thanks to those who helped make the day possible!! Big thanks to Humphrey High who allowed us to host the event in their space! Also thank you to the fellow "Charli's Angels" team members who helped in the event with posters, setting up, tearing down, taking care of Charli...and everything else that made the day go smoothly!
We got a HUGE surprise when Lane (his link is to the right!) walked in with his family!! They came to the game from Norfolk - it was awesome to have another childhood cancer warrior there to help people see who and what we are fighting for!! We had never met their family, and sadly the day was so rushed and so blurry that we didn't get a good opportunity to talk with them, but I know my sisters loved on Lane quiet a bit!! What a blessing that boy is, I am happy to have met him, but sorry we didn't get to spend more time together...another time we hope, when it is a little less hectic!!! Please visit Lane Fickler's site to the left he is a Leukemia fighter...and in our hearts forever!!!!
Enjoy the pictures!!
they gym was full of posters like this one!! We wanted it to feel like a "real" game!!

this poster was the entire length of the court...listing facts about childhood cancer, cold-hard facts.

A-C-T-I-O-N, ACTION BOYS ACTION!!!

kids (big and small!!) getting autographs after the game!

Charli dancing with the bride and groom!
